Relation Between Law and Chemistry
The approximate definition of law is, the system of rules that a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and may enforce by the imposition of penalties.In Canada, as followed by many other countries too, there is a law that states that drinking and driving is against the law. If an officer sites impaired driving in site, they usually guide the individual to pull up to the side of the road, so that they can conduct tests to measure the blood alcohol level of that person. The tool they use to measure the alcohol levels in your blood is called a "breathalyzer." There are chemical reactions that occur inside a breathalyzer once it comes in contact with the alcohol breath. This relates to the course of chemistry. Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the identification of the substances of which matter is composed; the investigation of their properties and the ways in which they interact, combine, and change; and the use of these processes to form new substances. Just as defined, there are certain aspects of law that have to relate directly to chemistry. The reactions, the quantitative properties, and also the aspects of concentration, and how much alcohol dilutes into your blood, and its affects on your body.
Relation Between Biology and Chemistry
The course of biology has a very important relation to chemistry, primarily the metabolic process of breaking down the alcohol, and all the chemicals that get decomposed within the liver. An enzyme converts ethyl alcohol into acetaldehyde plus two hydrogen atoms. The starting of this process already has to do with the reaction of decomposition. Next, the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase further converts acetaldehyde into an acetyl radical and a hydrogen atom. So far in this process, many decomposition reactions have occurred in order to successfully metabolize the alcohol through the liver. Last but not least, the body converts the acetaldehyde into acetate, in which it further breaks down into water and carbon dioxide, that is discharged out of the body though urine or sweat. Overall, the relation of this metabolic break down of alcohol is related to chemistry primarily due to the decomposition that occurs within the liver. Also, acetaldehyde is a very toxic substance, which is why it has to be successfully broken down and excreted out of the body when a person consumes alcohol. If the normal chemical reactions occur and the liver decomposes the substance, then it is no harm. However, failure to do this will lead to damage of cells, as this further leads to inflammation and scarring of the liver. This is a sign of alcohol hepatitis. In this case, the chemical reactions are also the primary relation to this alcohol disease, as failed reactions can lead to serious harm inside the body.
